How to Deal with Difficult People
Let's face it. Sometimes, we have to deal with someone who's just really difficult. Perhaps they're demanding, complaining, or tyrannical. Maybe they act inappropriately or they're dishonest. Regardless, they're just difficult and yet, they may be a church staff person or a member. In this session, you'll learn valuable techniques for dealing effectively with challenging people. You'll learn how to deal with someone who's always complaining and never satisfied, someone who is dishonest, someone who is verbally abusive, someone who is threatening, and other types of difficult people. (You know the type, right?) You'll learn how to say no without alienating the other person. You'll also learn when it's appropriate to terminate the relationship and how to do so respectfully. You'll probably never be able to avoid difficult people entirely, but you certainly can learn how to manage them positively.

Living As One: Broadcasting to Campuses
When live video streaming first became a thing, innovative church techs adopted the technology and tried to use it to stream between campuses over the public internet. Problem was, the internet wasn't designed to provide perfect video quality streaming in real-time, and so their audiences experienced distracting video artifacts, dropouts, and buffering wheels. This resulted in many of the early innovators abandoning public internet streaming and reverting to less efficient methods such as on-demand file-based video delivery, or significantly more expensive and complicated options such as satellite video or streaming over private networks.

Join this session to learn how, using next-generation streaming technologies, the live video quality and reliability problem has been solved, and how you can easily deploy that streaming technology across multiple locations regardless of geographical distance and quality of network access. You'll hear about how leading churches such as NewSpring, Elevation, Life Church, and Northwoods are saving thousands of dollars per month using this technology, and how it's changing their strategy from "where can we go" to "where do we need to go" -- because they now have the technology to go wherever.

Gloo: Big Data & Trust in the Church

We will dive into what we are learning as big data and machine learning enters ministries in revolutionary ways and how ministries are making it practical.

PHYGITAL Church: Church Online Doesn't Compete with Physical Church, It Complements
Many Churches today view Church Online as an obstacle to physical church. More and more people are attending church online and not coming to physical buildings. Rather than seeing this culture change as a threat, what if our churches strategized utilizing the strengths of Church Online, around digital technology. What we'd find is that, given a chance, Church Online doesn't threaten physical church. The endgame isn't whether Church Online or Phygital Church is better... the endgame should be to merge these together. It's not physical. It's not digital. It's phygital.

Living As One, Broadcasting Online
Churches all over the world such as Hillsong, Life Church, and Elevation are leveraging live video to expand their ministry to reach online audiences. And it's not just the huge churches, either. In fact, according to a 2018 study by the Leadership Network, nearly a quarter of churches with total in-person attendance of 2,000 or less live stream their services, and that number is growing. What's common to all of these churches, though, is a growing awareness that the viewing experience of the end-user can be significantly impacted by the technology which is used for streaming over the public internet, so choosing the right technology to reach online audiences is key for effectiveness and engagement.

Join this workshop to learn about the technical differences between the various methods for streaming online, and what those difference mean, practically, for your audience. When you walk away, you should understand the ins and outs of how your church can easily reach online audiences with live video through your website, social media platforms such as YouTube and Facebook, and TV boxes like Roku and AppleTV.

You will learn some of the best practices of productivity and collaboration solutions that will enable your people to work with partners and coworkers whenever and wherever they need.

This ‘new work’ is fueled by tools that improve your internal operations and help your teams to communicate much faster, more transparently and more intensely across the organization. Should I Stay or Should I Go Now? - Optimize or Replace your ChMS?
At Enable, we're often invited to help churches choose a new ChMS. But new requires a lot of effort and work that may just trade one set of problems for a new set of problems. How can your church staff assess whether new is really better or whether you're better off focusing on revamping their ministry processes to enable better ministry with their current tools.

What Would You Do? An Interactive Lesson on Reviewing Background Checks
This isn't your basic Background Check 101 session. Checkr will open with a brief intro to our company and the industry and then spend most of the session walking through real life screening scenarios that actual customers have had to review and adjudicate. We will then explore the Checkr Positive Adjudication Matrix (PAM) that allows ministries to standardize adjudication criteria to ensure fast and consistent decision-making across the organization. Modern Microsoft: We're not in Kansas anymore
The last 5 years have brought tremendous change to Microsoft. The next 5 years will cement it.

What does Microsoft expect your environments to look like over the next 3 to 5 years?
How much choice do you have in all this?
What should you be learning?
What is it going to cost?

In this session we will answer those questions and - if your presenter does his job well - have time for some meaningful Q&A.

NOTE:
This is going to be a fast moving session focused on the modernization roadmap for the Microsoft client/server family of products.
Dev components of the Azure family, and the deeper aspects of the business solutions family will be largely out of scope for this conversation.

Wi-Fi Presence: Know and Engage With Your Anonymous People
As families become increasingly mobile and drawn in many directions, it becomes essential for church leaders to have tools which help them to more effectively shepherd and understand their congregations. Using existing Wi-Fi technology, Wi-Fi Presence helps bring new visibility to church attendance, enabling churches to know individual attendance trends, even for those who might fall through the cracks of other traditional attendance systems such as connection cards and check-ins. You'll learn how to associate mobile phones to real people and better understand member engagement and connect with visitors.

Expectations From The Pew - Consumer Expectations In Church Tech
This presentation is all about the congregant. What tools do they use in their day-to-day lives and how do those tools shape the expectations they bring with them to church? The standard for "world class" tech isn't being set by church tech vendors. It's being set by the commercial apps and platforms that our members spend HOURS on each day. Platforms like Spotify, Netflix, Instagram, and Uber. And - like it or not - whether we meet or miss that mark can go a long way toward helping or hindering our credibility as ministry. This presentation will review the evolution of consumer expectations in technology, will take an honest look at where church tech has fallen short in the past, and will provide a proposed roadmap for how we as church leaders and church technology providers can close that gap.
